Q?
How easy is it to get to Hands of Elegance if I drive or take transport?
A.
Easy, I am only 4 k's north of Melbourne City. There is ample parking in the street and directly outside the Salon. Trams 1 or 6 from Swanston Street - Stop Number 120 at Brunswick Road, only 150 meters from the Salon. Also Tram 19 from Elizabeth Street or Tram 96 from Bourke Street with a short 7 minute walk from either direction.
Q?
Do you offer treatments to both Men and Women?
A.
Absolutely! Beauty treatments today are very much unisex. It's more about what you like to enhance and being comfortable and confident in your Therapists ability.
Q?
When should I arrange my Wedding services?
A.
Like all smoothly run events, it's all about organisation and time management. For your Hands and Feet, Face and Body, I advise you have a pre appointment to trial the results up to a month before the Wedding. A final Facial should not be any closer than 4-5 days before your 'Big Day' and Manicures and Pedicures can be anytime within the last week. Waxing and Tanning cannot be done on the same day so plan for at least 2-3 days prior. And ofcourse you may need to consider your bridesmaids and Mothers, and even the ever increasing well groomed Groom. Remember booking for groups takes a lot of organising.
And most importantly, Yes, you can bring Champagne.🥂🍾Q?
Do Acrylic nails damage the natural nail?
A.
The damage to the natural nail is minimal, in fact the damage caused mainly is by either not having the necessary maintenance refill often enough (2-3 weeks) or picking the Acrylic off your nails, or the inexperienced techniques of badly trained technicians using poorly made products.
Q?
Can I have Acrylic nails if I have badly bitten nails?
A.
Yes, in fact this will help break the biting habit and allow the nail to grow a little. Choose a very experienced Technician to give you the right advice and give the Acrylic nails a natural look.
Q?
If I don’t want artificial nails, how can I grow my nails naturally?
A.
The best thing for your natural nails is natural hydration and stimulation to circulation for growth. I always recommend a regular manicure(every 2 weeks) for growth enhancement and a good cuticle and nail treatment to be used daily.
Q?
I’ve heard Shellac ruins your nails?
A.
Some Gel Polishes on the market are very hard to remove and require harsh removal methods. If you seek out the genuine 'Shellac' by CND you won't have this problem. It is more expensive than some Gel Polishes but you can repaint over and over with little to no damage done. A qualified Technician should advise you as to when a break is required to ensure the health of your nails and have you able to have polish often rather than having to grow out the damage from bad product repeatedly used.
Q?
What should I look for to ensure the health and safety when have beauty services done?
A.
I would say, trust your gut. Ask questions and expect them to be answered happily, clearly and should ease your mind. I always sterilize instruments and have isopropyl alcohol on my station to sterilize throughout Manicures and Pedicures. I also believe in hot soapy water to thoroughly wash all receptacles including Spa baths. An antiseptic spray and wipe out is not enough!! And as far a Waxing and Facials are concerned. A good Therapist should have the health of your skin in the forefront of their mind, as we as your comfort and modesty. And of course the best results goes without saying. The treatment room should be clean, wax and spatulas discarded after use and aftercare advise provided.
